Red, White and Bush!
I was going to write a post that would have been insulting to the Kerry supporter from the Dominican Republic who thought it was appropriate to leave an insulting message on my blog. But instead I am going to say...This is America, we believe in freedom and the 1st Amendment. You are entitled to your opinion, I published my opinion without concerns about offending. The majority of people who visit my blog are family and friends. Many of my extended family are from Brasil and they hoped Kerry would win. This extended family of mine are young men ages 20 to 23 and their parents. They are a great light in my life! They are kind, generous, mature and take the time to listen and care about other points of view. We should all be so blessed to have such intelligent caring people in our lives! Obrigado meu Brasilians...beijos

First of all, I want to apologize for the insulting message I posted a few weeks ago, that day I was really stressed and saddened by news I had just seen, coincidently I bumped into your blog and was shocked when I saw the images and comments you had posted, specially since I guess you must be an intelligent and dedicated young American who has her ideals very straight, something I admire, but for some reason your images and comments made me really uncomfortable and made me think otherwise. I’m not usually one to insult, especially someone I don’t even know. Sorry for having used the “f” word on my previous comment; I can see it really bothered you since you have mentioned it so much, yes I know swears in English. One of the reasons might be that I, the Dominican girl (who never said was a Kerry supporter) is in fact an American citizen (that can spell very well actually).
I am a US citizen that lives and has been raised most of her life here in this little island of the Caribbean, Dominican Republic, and considers herself lucky to have this little island, beautiful place, you should visit some time, with all of what it has to offer: it’s people, who in general are very kind, generous, and working people with a rich culture. The flag has the same colors: red, white and blue (not red white and bush, that’s insulting) and these colors will represent me forever, wherever I go and live. Colors and icons that make you nostalgic every time you are far form home and you see someone waving that piece of cloth (we like to call flag) from far away. The biggest part of my family lives in the US, all over the US, some are even in the marines (if you hear the stories you might change your mind about many things).
The people here as well as in the US, believe in freedom and in the first amendment, which is the same as in the US, and is what I’m exercising right now (my freedom of speech). I am totally and utterly against Bush, not as a person since I don’t know him, I just don’t believe he has made any good decisions these past four years, but sadly I can’t do anything about it. I am not into politics, don’t get me wrong, I find politics and politicians disgusting, but again sadly, they rule the nations and impose their decisions (not always right) over these nations we inhabit. I believe every nation should have the government they deserve; I guess you guys got that covered.
As a truce, again I say I’m sorry if I offended with my first comment, and since you are so into listening to other people’s opinions and points of views, you and your family are invited to drop by my blog anytime if you desire, you will find a variety of opinions just waiting to be read. It’s in Spanish, pero se parece al portuguese.
So long and thank you for your time, Godspeed.
A few thoughts on your comment, then we are done…..
Using the "F" word didn't bother me you stated (I can see it really bothered you since you have mentioned it so much) I mentioned something about soap, what you read into that is not my comment, but, what bothered me is that family and friends visit... I am sure you would not like me to post offensive language on your blog.
(The Dominican girl (who never said was a Kerry supporter)
If you don't like Bush, it is only reasonable to think that you support Kerry.....Maybe you support Ralph Nader...frankly, I don’t care who you support. You are entitled to your views and whether I agree with them is irrelevant.
The flag has the same colors: red, white and blue (not red white and bush, that’s insulting)
If you find my Blog so insulting, why do you still visit? (That is a rhetorical question)
Some are even in the marines (if you hear the stories you might change your mind about many things).
I have friends and family in the services too, I hear the stories. Don't assume that I don't or that there is just one story and it's all bad, there is good too.
As a truce, again I say I’m sorry if I offended with my first comment, and since you are so into listening to other people’s opinions and points of views...
I never said I was "into" anything...If you would have read my post more carefully you would have understood that I was speaking of my Brasilian family.
If you wanted to sincerely apologize, I think you would have and left it at that. Being that you had to go on about irrelevant things in respect to apologizing made your apology more backhanded and not at all sincere.
I did not start this blog to get into this sort of debate. I started it because my family in Brasil wanted to hear about their sons and see pictures of them. They like to read what I write and enjoy my posts even if they are contrary to their opinions. They have sent me just as many Bush pictures that depict our President in extremely unflattering ways. Did I write them a nasty response? No, I may not like the pictures personally but I am not going to let it outrage me and call them pigheaded idiots and post something on my blog that calls them imbeciles.
I think you are young and have much to experience. If you are that offended by my blog, you are the only one who can do anything about it. I can suggest you not visit, but that is up to you. I will post as I always have without regard to insulting you because it is not you that I post for……..Good luck in life, I hope you succeed in everything you try! Be patient, kind and thoughtful. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar……..I think that is what Grandma used to say….
With that, we are done.
