What a day! Sorry long post!

Leave it to me to be the ultimate bitch and not know I am being one!........Ok maybe that is a little strong, Let's try hostile. I think bitch and hostile go together but what do I know, I'm blonde and would rather be oblivious to any derogatory remarks people make about me. If you don't like me......To bad for you and good thing for me cause I don't need to put up with your merda anyway!

I just keep smiling and shaking my head thinking about what happened at work today. The fun never ends my friends!

To understand the situation described below, you have to know that the building the caretaker works and lives in is designated for Seniors (62 and over) and people with disabilities........He falls into the later category since he is in his 40's I believe. This is just a note and has nothing to do with what transpired, at least not from my perspective

Here's the deal.... I have two employees at the apartment complex. One is my maintenance man Jado! I have known him since I was at least 12. Good man! No, that is not enough....Outstanding Guy! One in a million! Couldn't work there with out him!

Second employee is the caretaker or should I say "WAS". No, I did not fire him. I am not very capable of confrontation.....I get all nervous and don't like to do those things.......Today however I had to get a grip on my self esteem and have a talk with my caretaker. He was talking to Jado (maintenance guy) and telling him I was hostile, unfair, unprofessional, yada yada, yada, and that he couldn't work for someone like me......Ok, works for me! Buh Bye......Jado told him to talk to me, Of course he wouldn't, so I called him into my office to talk to him about his comments and see if we could straighten things out. I obviously don't need my caretaker going around lipping off about me.

He comes into my office and has a seat, I get about four words out of my mouth before he starts calling me hostile and unprofessional. (why has no one ever told me I am such a bitch?) I have my chance to speak and politely ask him not to interrupt me. I apologize to him for any misunderstanding he may have about my character. I graciously tell him that I have, to my knowledge, never been hostile with him and that if that was his impression, then I am truly sorry.
He comments that I am always hostile and that I favor Jado over him, says that I am unprofessional, and that if I bought Jado a cell phone for work that I should have bought him one too. Okay, now I am getting the picture here! The issue is what I buy for Jado that enables him to do his job to the best of his ability and what I don't provide for the guy that works 10 hours a week cleaning the floors and dusting. This is the real issue here. I explain to this gentleman (and I use that term loosely) that Jado is my right hand man, he is on call 24/7 at this property and I need to be able to contact him where ever he is at any time! (Jado has let me know that I seem to have the timing to catch him in the bathroom.....opa...I do that to my dad too.....Must be some freaky radar) Well that explanation was not going to cut it for the disgruntled caretaker......Nope, he needed to lash out at me just a bit more.....I took it like a champ until he started getting personal and wanting to know my education level and how I came to be qualified for the job I have, yada yada........I told him politely that my background was none of his concern nor was it up for discussion.......He asked "Are you getting hostile with me now?" Ok, maybe I am a little miffed with you.........I said "yes, I am upset with you, I am your employer and to be perfectly honest, you have no right to question my decisions and certainly not my background or abilities. So if you think that is hostile, then yes, I am. Wow!! Never saw any one get up so fast and head towards the door screaming that they were going to call the police! You would have thought that I was holding a loaded gun to his head.....I calmly said, Ok you call the police, that is your prerogative, You also need to think about your job and future working here........Well I got half that out before he started screaming again that he was calling the police and that I should be quiet......Not a problem dude! Go make your call I have work to do!

The police arrive and talk to him in the parking lot for a few minutes then the officer drove away(the officer never gets out of the squad car).....I did not bother to go out there because the whole thing was ridiculous to say the least. My caretaker comes back into the building to pick up his cleaning where he left off.........Don't think so dude! I had Jado with me at this point as I was not going to be alone with him......Blonde, not stupid........I ask him what the police said and he calmly told me that since I did not assault him, he could not press charges against me.......here is me trying to contain the immediate reaction of bursting out into a pants wetting laughter as he said this. OMG! Press charges against me........Can you feel the love! I told him in no uncertain terms that he is not to return to work and that he should take the next hour to think about his options......... 1. Resign from the job or 2. Be put on probation and terminated should he step out of line with me again in any way. I thought that was pretty fair on my part! I asked him to please get back to me when he has reached his decision...........Some one likes me!! He quit! I just have to deal with him as a resident and not an employee! I suppose if he bounces his rent check and I have to address that with him, he may well call the police again...... Oh well.....Tough and embarrassing for him! Just stay away from me and we will be fine!

And if this post isn't long enough already, let's talk about Hurricane Ivan and someone in the path that we all know and love! Yes Andre it's you! Was there any doubt.....lol. Be careful and keep us well informed with where you are and what your plans are! I for one will try my best not to worry! You are a smart guy and I know that you will be safe! I just worry about your $$$... I want you to be able to get out of there with Gui and Luis and have a safe hurricane free hotel to stay in! Asi soy yo dude! Can't help it..... I luv ya!
